ENGL 3301 - Advanced Writing in the Disciplines
Provides writing instruction for students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students develop an in-depth analytic or recommendation report about a focused topic related to their majors and/or their co-op or other personal or professional experiences. In a workshop setting, students evaluate scholarly and popular sources, practice a variety of professional and academic forms of writing, and develop expertise in audience analysis, critical research, peer review, and revision. Writing is guided in stages from initial topic exploration and a formal proposal through drafts and progress reports to a final polished report, presented in a bound portfolio with a cover letter, an abstract, and other writing samples. This course is sometimes offered in specialized sections; check course offerings booklets. Prereq. (a) ENGL 1102 or ENGL 1111 and (b) 56 SH toward degree.
