PHYS 3600 - Advanced Physics Laboratory 1
Offers experiments in this course that are substantially different from those in introductory physics laboratory courses-they go beyond the simple demonstration of basic physical principles. Data are taken to higher precision and the analysis is more in-depth. Experiments begin with some basic properties of wave motion, leading to Fourier transform methods and finally to optical experiments. Topics include damped and driven oscillations, Fourier acoustics, microwave diffraction, Faraday rotation, optoelectronics, and quantum optics. Written reports are required for each experiment. Prereq. (a) PHYS 2303 and (b) ENGW 1111, ENGW 1102, ENGL 1111, or ENGL 1102 and (c) junior or senior standing.
