PHYS 2303 - Modern Physics
Reviews experiments demonstrating the atomic nature of matter, the properties of the electron, the nuclear atom, the wave-particle duality, spin, and the properties of elementary particles. Discusses, mostly on a phenomenological level, such subjects as atomic and nuclear structure, properties of the solid state, and elementary particles. Introduces the special theory of relativity. Prereq. (a) MATH 2321 (which may be taken concurrently) and (b) PHYS 1155, PHYS 1165, or PHYS 1175.
