CS 0141 - Introduction to Deep Learning
Focuses on teaching the underlying principles of artificial neural networks and deep learning algorithms. Offers students an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience implementing corresponding core deep learning algorithms in Python and using popular deep learning frameworks, such as, Keras and TensorFlow. Discusses and reproduces numerous applications of deep learning (case studies) for domains such as image understanding, natural language modeling, speech recognition, time-series forecasting, and digital advertising. Emphasizes theory, the basic algorithms, and the practical tricks needed to get deep learning to work well, along with numerous practical case studies. Students are expected to have completed an introductory machine learning course; possess object-oriented programming capabilities; and have knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, and probability. This limited engagement course is not available for current undergraduate students.
